Request for submissions: Rapid Fire presentations for the eighth annual Urban and Rural in Alaska Conference

Faculty and non-profit organizations are invited to share a two-minute Community Engagement Rapid Fire summary of your community-engaged work. Faculty may choose to highlight a current project with a community entity. Community agencies who are looking to partner with university faculty may also want to include a discussion of the project(s) you would like to partner on. Ideally, your Rapid Fire will be submitted in video format. If you need assistance creating a video please contact us at uaa.ccel@alaska.edu.

First generation discussion panelist needed

First Generation week will be Nov. 9-13, during which UAA will be celebrating students, staff and faculty who were the first in their family to pursue a college degree. We are seeking First-Gen UAA faculty and staff to sit on a virtual panel discussion, on Tuesday Nov. 10, following the showing of the film, "Why Not Us." Spring 2021 priority registration is now underway! Are you registration ready?

Spring registration is almost here. The spring schedule is viewable in UAOnline, and we encourage you to use Schedule Planner in UAOnline to create your perfect spring schedule. Students that use Schedule Planner spend less time registering and, on average, register for three credits more than students that do not use Schedule Planner.

Job Opening: Student Success Program Assistant

UAA is seeking an organized, energetic, and self-motivated individual to support the daily execution of administrative tasks for the Middle College Program and Office of First Year Student Advising and Success (FYSAS). The Student Success Program Assistant is an integral member of the Student Success team with an emphasis in organization, attention to detail, and customer service. The Student Success Program Assistant will be the primary point of contact and liaison for all Middle College Program textbook related functions, assist with student intake, and help establish and maintain effective and efficient service delivery.

Transformative Research in Metabolism (TRiM) achieves center status

The UA Center for TRiM is the first and only biomedical research center in the U.S. to adopt a model of natural adaptations in metabolism as an approach to treat metabolic disease. The center builds on UA’s institutional commitment and 60-year legacy of hibernation research by bringing together existing research activities related to hibernation and metabolism.
