2020 Alumni of Achievement Leverette Hoover is a national operations manager for Siemens and a retired air traffic control radar maintenance technician for the Air Force. More than a founding member of the UAA Alumni Association, he is a strong supporter of engineering education, serving as a mentor for students, employer of graduates and partner to K-12 schools to get students excited about careers in STEM.

2020 Alumni of Achievement Laurie Fagnani is the founder and president of MSI Communications. Established in 1995 as a home business with herself as sole employee, Fagnani has grown her company to be the go-to marketing agency for Alaska’s resource industry, attributing MSI’s success to hiring staff with an intuitive understanding of Alaska’s industries, a quarter of whom come from UAA.

Upstart Alpha Startup Accelerator applications close Friday, Oct. 2

Upstart Alpha is an important part of our university-based entrepreneurship programming that provides funding, tools, and connections for innovators interested in turning their idea into a startup. From October 2020 through March 2021, entrepreneurs accepted into the program will learn the mindset of an entrepreneur, how to test their idea, obsess their customers, meet investors and more.

BuyAlaska is back!

The Alaska Small Business Development Center (Alaska SBDC) has partnered with Alaska Communications, Alaska MEP (Alaska Manufacturing Extension Partnership), Edible Alaska, and dozens of other organizations across the state to launch the BuyAlaska program.
