Changes to UA's policy on sex and gender-based discrimination

In response to new federal Title IX guidelines, the Board of Regents approved significant revisions to Regents’ policy, and Acting UA President Michelle Rizk has signed the enabling regulations regarding sex and gender based discrimination. The changes detail new specific procedures that all universities must follow in cases of sexual harassment and assault on campuses in accordance with the new federal rule, and become effective Aug. 14, 2020.

On-site operations and policy guidance update

By now, you have likely seen the UA system communication outlining updated guidance for the approaching fall semester. I would like to take this time to reiterate these updates and reaffirm my commitment to work with my leadership team as well as local government leaders to make informed decisions and develop policies that make the most sense for UAA.

As bee populations decline worldwide, much about Alaska’s bees still remains unknown. Researchers at UAA’s Alaska Center for Conservation Science are partnering with the Bureau of Land Management to find out more about what bees exist in Alaska and what key roles they play in our unique ecosystem.

UAA Copy & Print Center takes first place

Congratulations to UAA's Copy & Print Center for earning first-place honors with the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP+). The Association is the leading professional organization in the U.S. dedicated to supporting educational in-plant print and mail operations.

Big Questions Weekly Dialogue Series call for topics

Individual students, student organizations and UAA departments are invited to submit a dialogue topic for the weekly series around THE BIG QUESTIONS IN LIFE. Questions are due Aug. 3 at 5 p.m. The committee will review the questions/topics Aug. 5.

Rasmuson Foundation honors seven UAA alumni with artist awards

Thirty-six Alaska artists have been named recipients of the 2020 Individual Artist Awards. An annual initiative managed by the Rasmuson Foundation, this year’s awardees include seven UAA alumni — two receiving $18,000 fellowships and five winning $7,500 project awards.

HR Topic Series launches with 'How To See Into Your Biggest Blind Spot' Aug. 21

UA Human Resources Labor and Employee Engagement will be hosting a new Topic Series, which is meant to be a platform for provoking thoughtful and meaningful discussions between UA employees. It operates similar to a book club. You can view topics and sign up for each monthly discussion through the UA Human Resources Training and Development Calendar.
