The University of Alaska Anchorage and the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee are coming together to provide a socially distanced gaming experience! We are bringing two states on opposite sides of the country to face off in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The tournament begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2020. Register today on smash.gg!

Voting open for 2020 Virtual UAA's Got Talent

The UAA's Got Talent deadline has passed and it's now time for you to vote for your favorite student talents by liking them on Facebook! Students will win a variety of prizes (including webcams, microphones, toilet paper and trophies) in four distinct categories: vocal, instrumental, variety and art.

Dr. Jennifer McFerran Brock named Associate Dean for Academics in the College of Engineering

Dr. Brock has assumed the position of Associate Dean for Academics as of Monday, April 13. Dr. Brock has been with UAA since August 2009; she currently holds the academic rank of Professor of Mechanical Engineering with tenure in the College of Engineering. During her time at UAA, she has demonstrated high standards in teaching, research and service.

Earlier this year, Smithsonian Global debuted "The Heartbeat," a film featuring a collaborative research project, called the Salmon and People Project, by Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. The video will stream as part the Earth Optimism Digital Summit film festival on April 22 (airing during the 4 p.m. AKDT block).

Gaining a foothold: Alumna podiatrist secures PPE for New York City hospital

Biology alumna Dr. Reem Sheikh has raised around $18,000 to alleviate personal protective equipment shortages at the East Harlem hospital where she serves as an attending physician.
