March 25: ISER webinar on commercial fisheries and local economies

by Institute of Social and Economic Research  |

On Thursday, March 25, from 12–1 p.m., Dr. Brett Watson will present recent research that explores how commercial fishing impacts local economies. Alaska fisheries produced approximately $4.4 billion in sales in 2015, ranking first in the U.S. in terms of production. The new research, co-authored by Matt Reimer, Mouhcine Guettabi and Alan Haynie, is the first to statistically quantify how much locals in communities across the state are benefiting economically from this industry.
