Happy holidays, Seawolves!

Wishing you and yours a joyous holiday season and bright new year.Dear UAA Community,

As 2021 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the year and the incredible strides we have made together as a university community. While the year has certainly posed challenges along with some new reasons for thankfulness, I am continually reminded of your resilience — our students, faculty and staff who persevere and continue the inspiring work of pursuing education, conducting research and contributing to the vitality of our Southcentral Alaska communities.

Seawolf spirit was fully on display during our first in-person commencement ceremonies since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. We celebrated nearly 700 students graduating this semester and joining the UAA alumni family. Thank you to all the faculty, staff, students, volunteers and alumni who made this extraordinary event possible.

As a reminder, our campuses will be closed Dec. 23-Jan. 2. I encourage you to rest, recharge and enjoy this season of giving with loved ones. I wish you and your families a happy and joyous holiday season and look forward to seeing you again in the spring semester.

Sincerely,
Sean Parnell,
UAA Chancellor
