IT Desktop and Telecommunication Rates for FY22

by UAA IT Services  |

The rates for IT Desktop Services and IT Telecommunication Services have been approved for FY22. Billing will begin soon. See below for details including rate amounts and when billing is scheduled to begin.

Desktop Services

Desktop labor rates for billable services remain at $100 per hour.

Billable services include:

  • Immediate service (work stoppage): Gives the requestor the option to pay for immediate service if waiting in a first-come, first-served queue is not acceptable based on the nature of the issue or other extenuating circumstances.
  • Facilities Projects: Usually involves new build-outs or moving of computer equipment.
  • Out of Warranty Repairs: Labor charges for hardware repairs performed on a computer that is not covered under warranty.
  • Non-standard UA-owned hardware/equipment – Labor charges for hardware or equipment that is not standard UA equipment.
  • Unsupported Software: Software not covered by software assurance/maintenance or not supported at UAA.
  • Managed Print: Service requests for UAA's managed print workstations and printers. Note that departments are not charged for this work. The managed print service incurs these costs.
  • Other Projects: These often large and specialized work efforts require major time investments due to detailed analysis, research and planning and usually require several technicians to simultaneously implement. Most have an inflexible timeline and do not fit the first come/first serve model.
  • Labs: A computer lab is billed for services beyond simple software updates deployed automatically
  • Personal Requests: Requests that are personal in nature or on personal equipment.
  • Non-UA Sponsored Campus Events

Billing for Desktop labor rates will begin this week. If you’d like more information please reach out to the IT Business Office at uaa_itbusinessoffice@alaska.edu.

Telecommunication Services

Telephone rates for FY22 remain stable compared to last year.  Starting in FY21, the telecommunication rate was split into two separate rates: a telephone and data services rate and a handset rate. The telephone and data services rates include the telephone line, network connectivity, data services, and IT security. The handset rate covers the replacement cost of the physical desk phone. If a phone is primarily used from a computer via the softphone app, they may elect to turn in their desk phone and avoid paying this rate.

The rates are as follows:

  • UAA – Anchorage area, PWSC, Kodiak College
    • Telephone and data services (annual) $322.82
includes telephone, network, and IT security
    • Handset (annual) $67.38
includes replacement costs for physical desk phones
    • Total for both: $390.20
  • UAA – KPC, Mat-Su College
    • Telephone Line (annual) $694.56
includes telephone, network, and IT security
    • Handset (annual) $92.14
includes replacement costs for physical desk phones
    • Total for both: $786.70
  • Labor (hourly) $97.59
    • Billable services include fieldwork requested by departments such as moves, adds, or changes for ports and telephones

Billing for Telecommunication labor rates will begin this week. If you’d like more information about Telecommunications labor billing, please reach out to the IT Business Office at uaa_itbusinessoffice@alaska.edu.

Telephone line and handset rates will be billed after Jan. 3. Please note that certain restricted funds, such as grants, will have their annual bill split into quarterly installments.
