UAA Student Affairs Unlocking Potential participantsJoin Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Bruce Schultz in congratulating the spring 2022 participants of the Student Affairs UPs program for completing the program this week. Members of the inaugural Student Affairs Unlocking Potential cohort included: Isabel Mead, Carrie Burford, Reba Hale, Alyona Selhay, Peter Clemens, Nick Kramer, Cody Buechner and Zac Clark.

Participants met throughout the spring semester with nationally certified performance coach Jonathan King. The leadership engagement series for mid-level supervisors consisted of five distinct experiences lasting three hours each. Sessions included a learning component exploring the science behind the lesson and an experience component which had participants interacting with each other and practicing their skills. Leadership topics included psychological safety and trust, "doer-to-leader," strategic space and thinking, crucial conversations and accountability, and coaching skills. Participants also had direct access to private coaching sessions with Jonathan throughout the experience.

According to UPs participant Assistant Director of Financial Aid Carrie Burford, "The UAA Student Affairs Unlocking Potential program allowed me to take practical steps to transform my leadership coaching style from the 1995 'Advice Monster' method to helping my employees unlock their own potential through effective coaching strategies."

Congratulations SA UPs participants!
