July 10-15: Northern Renaissance Arts & Sciences Reading Series 'The Last Rodeo'

Northern Renaissance is a series of readings throughout the week of July 10 by UAA MFA Creative Writing program faculty, students and alumni, as well as guest authors Jason Mott, the 2021 National Book Award winner for fiction, and Heather Lende, Alaska State Writer Laureate. 

All readings begin at 7 p.m. in the UAA Fine Arts Building, Recital Hall (3640 Alumni Drive, Room 150). Free admission and free parking. Those who prefer to attend virtually may join via Zoom.

Sunday, July 10

  • Nancy Lord, pH: A Novel
  • Jason Mott, winner of the National Book Award 2021 for Hell of a Book

Monday, July 11

  • Contributions to Literacy in Alaska Award, presented by the Alaska Center for the Book 
  • Rich Chiappone, The Hunger of Crows, a novel
  • Daryl Farmer, Where We Land, short stories

Tuesday, July 12

  • Kathleen Tarr, We Are All Poets Here
  • Valerie Miner, most recent book: Bread & Salt, short stories

Wednesday July 13

  • Graduating MFA students reading
  • Presentation of The Jason Wenger Award for Excellence in the MFA Thesis

Thursday July 14
