Faculty & Staff Shared Equity Leadership Training/Certificate

Development of a Shared Equity Leadership (SEL) program for faculty, staff and student-leaders, Thursdays, 12-1 p.m., February, 16 and 23 and March 2 and 9, in-person and on Zoom. Shared Equity Leadership is a model of equity promotion endorsed by the American Council of Education (ACE), and our accreditor, NWCCU.  The model includes a.) examination of one’s personal journey, b.) an examination of values and c.) practices integral to equity work.

Program:
Part 1: Journey. A discovery of the way in which we understand equity,
our personal paths and the lens through which we see the world.
Part 2: Values. An analysis of the values that promote equitable environments, and our strengths in upholding these values.
Part 3: Practices. A real-world understanding of the practices we can all use to create a more equitable University in our day to day actions.
Part 4: Action Plan. Developing a SMART personal equity leadership action plan.

Method:
The course is housed in UA Google Classroom.
Each part/week includes 1.) pre-session assignments, 2.) one-hour group session led by the CDO, 3.) post-session assignments and 4.) weekly food-for-thought/reminder emails.

The group will close with a celebration, sharing of action plans, certificates and reporting of outcomes to the UAA community.
