March 2: Bystander Intervention Training

Bystander intervention can help prevent sexual assault and domestic violence in our community. This presentation is very interactive with skill building activities and scenarios for everyone to participate in. It is a great way to teach our community how anyone can make a difference by stepping in and speaking up in a safe way against violence.

Supervising for Success Spring 2022

UA Human Resources begins offering the three module Supervising for Success Training in March 2022. Training topics include; an overview of policies and regulations, workplace safety and accommodation, basic compensation, recruitment and retention, conflict resolution, performance management, and professional development.

DEADLINE to APPLY: Feb. 28 for the 2022 Graduate School Administrative Scholarship

The 2022 Graduate School Administrative Student Scholarship is awarded by the UAA Graduate School to graduate students from any graduate program at UAA. The scholarship award is a minimum of $1,000. Scholarship applicants will be evaluated primarily based on financial needs.

Like bikes? Off the Chain Student Night is March 7

Off the Chain bike co-op volunteers

Off the Chain is Anchorage's volunteer-run bike collective. The group started as the UAA Bike Club more than 15 years ago and is now a community hub offering bike tools, parts, advice and education. Stop by student night to work on your bike, fix up a donated bike and learn how to volunteer.

Resources for those impacted by invasion of Ukraine

In watching news reports, video feeds, and social media, I want to recognize the pain and misery suffered by the people of Ukraine after the invasion of the Russian Federation’s military forces. While it’s up to our national leaders to address the international crisis and preserve and protect our nation’s interests and people, we must not turn a blind eye to the carnage and cost of war for all and speak up about it.

Capitol Report for Feb. 25, 2022

Feb. 25 marks the 39th day of the legislative session. U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski was in Juneau earlier this week to give her annual joint legislative address to lawmakers. Legislators were also busy updating the Capitol’s COVID-19 policies and closing out the House budget subcommittees.
