Presenting the fall/winter 2022 edition of Spirit magazine! As UAA's premier publication, these amazing stories capture the great work of alumni and students from your Hometown U.

For this issue, themed future forward, we’ve spoken to UAA alumni leading the charge in some of the world’s trailblazing companies and industries, like sociology alumnus Brandon Walker and journalism alumnus Todd Walker (no relation), who work at Meta (formerly Facebook) and Amazon, respectively.

Also featured is journalism alumna and culinary arts professor Riza Brown, who started a cannabis information course at UAA to help others navigate the regulatory landscape of this budding industry.

Meet clinical psychology alumna Jennifer Pierce and fire service administration alumnus Michael Riley, who lead Anchorage’s Mobile Crisis Team — one of the first programs of its kind in the country to meet patients where they are to offer mental health emergency services.

Regarding what’s happening on campus at your Hometown U, Chancellor Parnell provides an update on the UAA 2025 strategic plan and the university’s rollout of several new tuition benefits available to students.

With these stories and more, please enjoy leaning in and learning more about how #SeawolfNation continues to make an impact in Alaska and beyond.
