Volunteers Needed for Alaska Academic Decathlon

by Green & Gold News  |

The Alaska Academic Decathlon State Competition is coming up, March 2-4 and we need a lot of volunteers for this event!

Taking place on the UAA campus, The Alaska Academic Decathlon is a rigorous scholastic program that challenges and empowers high school students to learn about several subjects based on a yearly theme with this year's theme is "The American Revolution & The New Nation". High school students study science, math, social science, economics, music, literature and art along with preparing speeches and engaging in an interview. They also write a timed essay. This program also teaches valuable communications skills and helps form our future workforce.

In order to put on a truly special event for the participants, we are going to need a lot of help from the UAA community, such as Speech Judges, Interview Judges, Proctors, and general help for the event. If you would like to volunteer please fill out the Onsite Volunteer Form by Feb. 22! If you have any questions, please reach out to Joan Pardes at joanp@serrc.org.
