New freshwater temperature database for Alaska

by Green & Gold News  |

The Alaska Center for Conservation Science (ACCS) at the University of Alaska Anchorage would like to announce the release of a new freshwater temperature database for Alaska to help facilitate data storage and reuse.

AKTEMP is a cloud-based database platform for storing and accessing stream and lake temperature monitoring data. The database was created by Walker Environmental Research in partnership with ACCS and funded through a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The website allows data providers to upload, review, explore, and download water temperature data. Use of AKTEMP is free and open and will continue to be supported by staff at UAA’s Alaska Center for Conservation Science. If you would like to become a data provider please request an account and use the resources posted on the User Guide link to get started. Stations in AKTEMP can also be viewed as a publicly-accessible web map and downloaded for use in desktop GIS applications. Links to the database and web map are provided below.
