UA DS 'All Access, All The Time' Staff & Faculty Support Series

September 2023 through April 2024, DS offices across the state will be offering free monthly virtual training sessions covering a variety of essential DS topics. 

Please click on the links below to register for the first three sessions (additional ‘All Access’ series details will be announced in the months to come!) All sessions other than 'Case Review with OCR' and 'DS Coffee Chats' will be recorded.

Deaf Awareness

Oct. 10, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. with Mike Merritt and Sharon Miranda 

Hope Community Resources is dedicated to the provision of quality services that result in successful community involvement. Deaf Navigators Mike and Sharon will share the diverse range of expert resources and services Hope provides to help Deaf and Hard of Hearing Alaskans.

Intersectionality

Nov. 15, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. with Karen Andrews

Discrimination and exclusion are not resolved by focusing on a single issue or influence. Karen Andrews, Director of Student Accessibility Services at Brown University, will explore the useful framework of ‘Intersectionality’ as it relates to equitable opportunities, legal compliance, accessibility, barrier elimination, and best practice resources and services for disabled students.

Virtual Disability Services Coffee Chats

At 8:30 a.m. the morning after each monthly presentation, staff and faculty can ‘Zoom’ with DS in an informal virtual gathering centered around coffee, conversation, and constructive solutions. Thank you for your consideration and participation -- we look forward to 'seeing' you soon!
