The evening speaker series "Economics After Hours" continues this fall with 3 upcoming events at The Writer’s Block Bookstore & Cafe (3956 Spenard Rd, Anchorage). Each session in the “Economics After Hours” series features a short presentation followed by discussion. Guests will enjoy light refreshments and access to a cash bar.

Join us at Writer’s Block Bookstore & Café for a series of talks by UAA economics professors. Each session begins at 6 p.m. Enjoy light refreshments and a cash bar while you learn more about topics they are researching. Discussion and Q/A will follow a short presentation.

Nov. 9: Kevin Berry

What does "sustainability" mean? On Nov. 9, Kevin Berry presents "Inequality, Prosperity and the Environment", delving into the hurdles nations encounter when attempting to achieve those goals in tandem, emphasizing the trade-offs, sacrifices, and compromises involved.

Nov. 30: Mike Jones

On Nov. 30, Mike Jones presents "Food security in Alaska: Economic Issues and Infrastructure Challenges" on the overarching importance of seasonality for Alaskan transport networks.

Dec. 14: Lance Howe

On Dec. 14, Lance Howe presents "Alaska Native Corporations and the relative well-being of Alaska Native shareholders" on the effect of being an original shareholder on long-run outcomes.
