After a national search with several qualified applicants, Jonathon Sanders, Ph.D. will be UAA's next director of Military and Veteran Student Services (MVSS).

Jonathon began working at UAA in July 2022, initially in the Office of Academic Affairs on JBER before Military Programs and MVSS were merged and Jonathon became the assistant director of MVSS. In the past two years, he has revamped and reshaped UAA's Seawolf Bootcamp and revitalized UAA's presence at the educational centers at Fort Richardson and Elmendorf. In January of this year, Jonathon stepped into the interim director role and immediately engaged with UAA's Care Team, ensuring that all of his staff were trained. At the center of who he is, Jonathon serves through relationships. He exudes passion with purpose and he is committed to making a difference through education.

Jonathon completed his doctorate in higher education this past fall from the University of Northern Texas and is a passionate presenter on many topics. He is a dynamic leader, an enthusiastic change agent, committed to UAA, the students he serves, and an incredible team player.
