UAA hockey headed to Ohio

Alaska Anchorage will make its first road trip of the season when it plays a pair of games at Miami (Ohio) in Oxford, Ohio this weekend (Oct. 11-12).
Series
Alaska Anchorage has won all three of the previous meetings against Miami. All three games were played during the 1986-87 season. The first was played in Cincinnati with the last two in Anchorage.
Coach Shasby
Head coach Matt Shasby enters his third season leading the Seawolves. The Anchorage, native has a 23-37-3 mark as the UAA bench boss. Shasby will be assisted this season by Chris Kamal, Aaron McPheters and Vincent Pietrangelo.
Underclassmen
Underclassmen have accounted for six of the team’s seven points this season.
First Points
Newcomers to the Seawolf squad recorded six of the team’s seven points last weekend against the Pioneers. Freshman Dimitry Kebreau and sophomore Joey Potter each scored goals, while Potter, freshman Ryan Johnson (two) and junior Logan Acheson recorded assists. Sophomore Aiden Westin was the lone returner to record a point with the first goal of the series for UAA.
Point Streak
Sophomore Joey Potter and freshman Ryan Johnson each recorded a point in both games against Denver last weekend. Potter scored an unassisted goal in game one and followed up with an assist in game two. Johnson recorded an assist in each game.
Netminders
Sophomore Greg Orosz started both games in net last weekend against Denver. He finished with 32 each night.
Season Openers
Last week’s loss in the season opener was a rarity for the Seawolves. UAA is 25-13-6 all-time in season openers.
Third Period
Alaska Anchorage has scored two of their three goals this season in the third period.
Last Time Out
Alaska Anchorage dropped two games to top-ranked Denver last season. The Pioneers won game one 6-2 and the second 4-1.

Alaska Anchorage will remain on the road playing a pair of games at Northern Michigan Oct. 18-19.
