UAA's Peckham qualifies for NCAA National Championships

Indianapolis, Ind. – John Peckham from the University of Alaska Anchorage earned an at-large spot to compete at the NCAA Div. II Cross Country National Championships.
“Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy,” said associate head coach Chas Davis. “He never let a broken foot keep him down last April when his track season ended, and you could tell that guy was on a mission ever since. We had a great conversation on the phone in early August before the season started where we both dialed into what it would take for him to reach his goals while helping the team reach theirs. Shows what the will of a true competitor can do coming back from a serious injury just seven months ago.”

Peckham, a native of Sisters, Ore., finished eighth at the NCAA West Regional Championships and fifth at the GNAC Championships. He won the Seawolf Throwdown on Aug. 31 and followed up with a second-place showing at the Blue & Gold Meet on Sept. 14th.
UAA has had a man compete at every NCAA Div. II XC National Championship since 2007 (2020 meet cancelled).
The men’s 10-kilometer race will take place at 9 am on Nov. 23rd at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, Calif.
