UAA receives $46M from Department of Homeland Security to lead Arctic homeland security

Arctic Research

The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate granted the University of Alaska Anchorage $46 million over the next ten years to lead a consortium of U.S. academic institutions and partners for the newly established Arctic Domain Awareness Center (ADAC)-ARCTIC Center of Excellence (COE) for Homeland Security in the Arctic.

Improving care through simulation

Students Gabriel Caterinicchio, Angellynndiite Maiava, Enoch Schnyder, and Kole Rhodes treat simulated participant performer Adam Lasalle during a 3-station rapid-fire trauma series of simulated encounters for students in Chris Lau's EMT A130 course in UAA's Allied Health Sciences Building.

Students in fall's EMT 130 — Emergency Medical Technician I burnished their clinical and decision-making skills in a trio of rapid-fire trauma simulations, thanks to a first-time partnership between the Fire and Emergency Services program and the Interprofessional Health Sciences Simulation Center.
