Seawolf Holdings, LLC
The following technology commercialization and venture fund structure was created
to commercialize technology based on faculty and student research at UAA. The UA Board
of Regents approved the fund structure in July 2012.
The purpose of Seawolf Holdings is to:
- Provide a corporate interface between UAA and its enterprise companies
- To protect the university and limit its liabilities
- Holding and commercializing Intellectual Property
- Manage companies and enterprises
The functions of Seawolf Holdings include:
- Overseeing the subsidiaries
- Identify University Intellectual property that can be commercialized and advise the fund
- License Intellectual Property to the IP/Sub LLC
- Review and approve all investment and divestment decisions until a 3- to 5-person investment committee is formed
The purpose of the Seawolf Venture Fund is to:
- Provide early-stage investment in select startup companies as a for-profit private equity fund
- Enhance the reputation of Anchorage as a center for technology advancement and innovation
