Hey, sometimes stuff happens and people need to find a place to stay for a short period of time - these vouchers are for that reason.

  • For houseless individuals and families who are fleeing abuse or trafficking
  • Short-term housing vouchers
  • Must be referred through a local coordinated entry team

Low-Income Housing Vouchers for Private and Public Rentals


These vouchers are for long-term housing

  • Run by Alaska Housing Finance Corp.
  • Low-income individuals and families (50% below median income for Anchorage for private vouchers and 80% below median income for public vouchers)
  • This is a wait-list maintained for private and public rentals in 12 Alaskan communities (including Anchorage)
  • They provide info on accommodations for persons with disabilities

Brother Francis Shelter, a program of Catholic Social Services, is an emergency shelter for men and women in Anchorage without a home. Brother Francis Shelter serves the homeless with dignity, care, compassion and with an emphasis on moving guests toward self-sufficiency. The services include shelter, medical, case management, and work experience programs.

Clare House provides services that address the basic needs of clients entering the emergency shelter program. This includes safe, warm shelter, food, water, and other necessities for both moms and their children. While families are transitioning out of survival mode, Clare House offers 24-hour support and case management services to help guide families to permanent stability.

The Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission

The Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission is a Christian organization and functions as an overnight shelter to house the homeless in a safe, warm and welcoming environment. They offer a six-month shelter accommodation for women returning to the work force and transitioning to permanent housing. A two year Life Skills program allows between 25-30 men an opportunity for recovery and reintegration back into a useful life at no personal cost. Other services include laundry and shower services, limited medical care, counseling, GED completion, and school supplies.

AWAIC is the largest domestic violence safe shelter in Alaska. Their mission is to provide domestic violence safe shelter, intervention, and prevention. They intervene in the cycle of violence with safe shelter for victims and their children, support and advocacy for all family members, and community education. AWAIC provides case management, advocacy, and confidential individual and group support for individuals who have experienced emotional, physical, and/or sexual abuse within their intimate or family relationships.

UAA Seawolf Pantry


This food pantry is on campus, 100% free, and open to all students regardless of income or employment status.

  • The pantry provides a three-dau supply of shelf-stable food for individuals and households up to four people.
  • The pantry can be used twice every month by each UAA student.
  • Bring your Wolfcard.
  • Located in the Professional Studies Building (PSB) Room 211 (2533 Providence Drive)
  • Students can email the pantry at uaa_seawolfpantry@alaska.edu or stop by during pantry hours to pick up food.

Provides physical and mental health services to all UAA students - some are free and some are low-cost

  • Flu vaccines and other immunizations
