Clinical practicums are an essential and mandatory piece of the DMS curriculum.
All students are required to complete two, six-month clinical rotations during the
second year of the program.
Clinical practicum sites are located around the state as well as Hawaii. Current clinical
sites are located in Anchorage, Mat-Su, Seward, Soldotna, Juneau, Fairbanks, Bethel,
Hilo, and Kona. While students are guaranteed clinical placements, no student may
request a specific site.
Travel, lodging and other associated costs related to assignment outside of the Anchorage
area or the student's home location is at the student’s expense. Grant and scholarship
money may be available.
Students are required to show proof of health insurance prior to the start of clinical
practicum.
Students are required to provide documentation of all immunizations required by the clinical practicum site.
All students will also be required to have a PPD prior to the start of clinical in
the Fall semester of the second year of the program.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification will be provided in the
first semester of the program.
Please contact the DMS program with any questions related to clinical rotation.
