Presenter Resources
This page serves as a resource page for presenters who have agreed to provide a STEM Talk at UAA, including important information you should know in advance. If you are interested in presenting a STEM Talk but have not yet been scheduled to present, please contact the STEM Day Committee.
Required Information:
It is important for you to provide us with your STEM Talk information at least 2 weeks in advance, so we can advertise your talk and ensure you have a captive audience! All STEM Talk Presenters must complete the following:
Primary Audience: 8th-12th grade students and other interested community members
Summary: The primary goal of this project is to get K-12 students excited about STEM topics and careers through bi-weekly STEM Talks sessions pairing two presenters and allowing for audience Q&A time. These talks are designed to be similar to TED talks in that they are innovative, inspiring, and engaging.
Content:
- Speakers may include faculty, student clubs and organizations, graduate students, and post-docs
- Content may range from demonstrations to presentations
- Topics may include research, information, or be story-driven
- Content should be developed and delivered with a high school audience in mind, though other age groups may be in attendance.
Delivery:
- Every other Wednesday, 6:00-7:00 PM
- Delivered via Zoom
- STEM talks will be recorded and made available afterward
- Streaming from a lab setting or other relevant university setting is encouraged, but not required
- If choosing to stream from an on-campus location, the speaker is responsible for requesting approval for campus access through proper channels
