IT Alert: Notice of ongoing network maintenance to support better cyber security

In an effort to increase UAA’s cyber security posture, IT Services will be taking steps to further reduce malicious actors’ ability to gain access to our network. While we are working very hard to minimize any discernable impacts, there is always some potential that employees may experience issues accessing legitimate resources.

Last week the House Finance Committee met to take up operating budget amendments. After four days of discussion, on Thursday the House Finance Committee passed out an amended operating budget which now goes to the House floor for debate.

Tom Case Fellows community book drive to benefit residents of McLaughlin Youth Center

Literacy and an appreciation for reading are important tools for young adults in and out of the criminal justice system. The Tom Case Leadership Fellows believe that through a book drive, the Anchorage and UAA community can build upon MYC’s ongoing work by providing residents tools to continue their personal growth and education through access to new and gently used, age-appropriate books.

April 2: Student Textbook Affordability Club meeting

STAC exists as a meeting place for all University of Alaska Anchorage students interested in promoting affordable textbooks and learning materials at UAA through education, advocacy and resource distribution. STAC may also involve prospective students, faculty and staff of UAA, and community stakeholders in the pursuit of this purpose. All are welcome to participate in increasing access to affordable textbooks at UAA!
