In the second week of the regular legislative session, UA Interim President Pat Pitney spent time in Juneau presenting to several legislative committees, and Governor Mike Dunleavy outlined his visions for Alaska’s future in his State of the State address.

Alaska Environmental Conference - free student opportunity!

Here’s an exciting opportunity for up to 100 full time UAA students with an interest in environmental issues: the UAA Books of the Year program has partnered with the Alaska Forum on the Environment to offer no-cost attendance at the annual Alaska Forum on the Environment conference, which will be virtual this year Feb. 7-10.

Do you work with minors?

Protection of Minor Program: Are you or someone in your department involved or plan to be involved with minors, examples might be but are not limited to conducting camps, clinics, workshops, any activity involving minors. Events that are sponsored by a college, school, department, office, organization, or another unit of UAA and located on or off-campus.

Congratulations to Corrie Whitmore, assistant professor of health sciences, on being elected as president of the Board of Directors for the American Evaluation Association, a professional association of evaluators with approximately 6,000 members representing all 50 states in the U.S. as well as more than 80 foreign countries.

University of Alaska staff, students and faculty across the entire system are invited to a virtual Town Hall with Interim UA President Pat Pitney, on Thursday, Jan. 27, 1-2 p.m via livestream on the UA President’s communications page.

Feb. 7: Off the Chain - Student Night

Off the Chain is Anchorage's volunteer-run bike collective. The group started as the UAA Bike Club more than 15 years ago and is now a community hub offering bike tools, parts, advice and education. Stop by student night to work on your bike, fix up a donated bike and learn how to volunteer.

Seawolves Ski Team finishes 3rd at Utah Invite

The UAA Ski Team finished 3rd at the University of Utah Invite thanks to the podium sweep of the Men's Nordic team and more exceptional performances the trails of Soldier Hollow and the slopes of Park City.

Ted Stevens Foundation gifts Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act papers to University of Alaska Anchorage Consortium Library

The Ted Stevens Foundation has gifted a selection of the late Congressman Ted Stevens’ papers to the archives at the UAA/APU Consortium Library at the University of Alaska Anchorage. The selection includes memos, maps, photographs, and more from the Stevens Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act collection.

Student Commencement Speaker and Leadership Honors applications available

Applications are now available for spring 2022 UAA Commencement Speaker and Leadership Honors. All applicants must be graduating in spring 2022 and the deadline to apply is Friday, March 4, at 11:59 p.m.
