Civil engineering and project management alumnus Cody Kapotak will serve as student speaker for the fall 2021 graduate degree hooding ceremony before starting his Ph.D. in geotechnical engineering, which the former ANSEP student and marine lance corporal hopes to use to mitigate the effects of climate change in rural Alaska.

On Dec. 1, UAA honored Ann Fienup-Riordan and Elizabeth Ripley with the title of Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, and awarded John Havelock, Thomas Hennessy, Ronald Swartz and Timothy Edwards the Meritorious Service Award during a special ceremony in advance of fall commencement.
