Howl Days registration is now open for summer 2021! The New Student Orientation office is excited to continue to offer virtual options for new students, but with additions from last year!

March 19: A community conversation about enrollment and student success initiatives

Interim Chancellor Bruce Schultz will host a conversation with Claudia Lampman, vice provost for student success, and Lora Volden, interim vice chancellor for student affairs. Lampman and Volden will discuss new and ongoing initiatives taking place this semester in support of student success, as well as student recruitment efforts currently underway for fall.

Feedback requested on draft institutional accreditation mid-cycle evaluation report

We kindly request your feedback on the draft of UAA’s Mid-Cycle Evaluation report. Feedback from all UAA faculty, staff and students is welcome! The report and a feedback survey are available on UAA’s Institutional Accreditation website. A complete proof including additional formatting will be completed at a later point, so we are not asking for proofreading or wordsmithing at this time. Please see the context and questions below.

Mental health wellness breaks canceled; new workshop schedule coming soon

Students in the Department of Health, Physical Education & Recreation will be giving back to their peers by leading several wellness breaks for students this Spring 2021 semester focused on mental health. Join these quick 30-minute Zoom activities between your classes, on your lunch break, or some time throughout your day to help you de-stress, relax, stay grounded, and re-focus. These wellness breaks are also a great way to stay connected to your peers and the UAA student community. Now more than ever we are realizing the importance of self-care, mental wellness, and staying socially connected to others. You are not alone. We are all in this together so let's come together in the best way we can to "stay wellthy."

FY22 capital budget public testimony scheduled for March 17 and 18

On March 17 and 18, the Senate Finance Committee will hold public testimony on the FY22 capital budget. UA’s deferred maintenance backlog, valued at $1.4 billion in FY21, is increasing annually. Capital funding is a top priority and critical need.

Join these quick 30-minute Zoom activities designed to help employees de-stress, stretch out, get up and move, and improve overall wellness through a variety of activities designed around a multitude of dimensions. These wellness breaks are also a great way to stay connected to your co-workers and the UAA employee community. Limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines available at SHCC in March

The UAA Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC) will have a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines in March. The vaccine is available to UAA students and employees.

Your Mail-In Ballot is on its way!

Ballots for this spring's Anchorage Municipal Ballot are on their way to registered Anchorage voters! Check your registration; if you are registered to vote in Anchorage, your ballot was mailed to you on March 15. Drop off or mail in your ballot on or before April 6.

March 25: Supporting Food Systems in Alaska: A Local Climate Solution

Interested in food? Food systems in Alaska? What we can do to reduce emissions, save money and the planet? Join us March 25 at 7 p.m. for a continuing discussion of Anchorage’s Climate Action Plan and how you can take action. Alaska INBRE is offering a Summer Academic Enrichment Undergraduate Research Opportunity

The Alaska IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) is supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health. The primary objective of the Alaska INBRE Summer Academic Enrichment Undergraduate Research Opportunity initiative is to provide support for a project in the biomedical sciences and health with mentorship from a UA faculty member. Students funded through this program will gain valuable experience in designing, conducting, and reporting biomedical research.
