Celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day

Oct. 12 is Indigenous Peoples Day, an opportunity to celebrate Alaska Native people and communities. UAA recognizes and values the diversity of our unique location in Southcentral Alaska, the ancestral homelands of the Dena’ina, Ahtna Dene, Alutiiq/Sugpiaq, Chugachmiut and Eyak peoples.

In celebration of Indigenous People's Day, please join us for a screening of the movie "Gather," followed by a panel of Alaskan food and nutrition experts, on Monday, Oct. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Last week for Bakery Cart — Open for curbside pick-up this Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 14 and 15

Lucy's bakery cart will be open Wednesdays and Thursdays, through Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. We are doing online ordering only (uaaculinaryarts.mobilebytes.com) and you can order online and pick up curbside at the Lucy Cuddy building. Payment by credit card. The menu will be dependent on what the students are learning during the week. There will also be to-go coffee available! Parking is free for the fall semester.

We are celebrating 49 Hours for the 49th State during UA Giving Day 2020! This campaign is a collaboration between the UA Foundation and UAA, UAF and UAS. UA Giving Day will run for 49 hours starting at noon Oct. 20 and ending at 1 p.m. Oct. 22.

KRC Student Success and Resources Advisor position available

Kenai Peninsula College invites applications for its KRC Student Success and Resource Advisor position, which serves as the primary point of contact for all KRC students taking developmental math and writing courses. Additionally, this position will support the learning and engagement of Rural and Alaska Native Students. This level 78, fulltime, 12-month position begins Nov/Dec. at $23.84 hourly.

The Student Union is excited to share the following operational updates: Virtual Information Desk - The Information Desk for the Student Union is now available online! Students, faculty/staff, and the community can enter a live chat with one of our knowledgeable staff Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Have questions about our services, we’ve got answers! Visit us online at https://www.uaa.alaska.edu/students/union/ Gear Room Returns - The Student Union Gear Room is open for the Fall 2020 semester. A rental request can be filled out on the UAA Student Union website. Gear can be picked up on Thursdays from 9am - 4pm and returned on Mondays from 9am - 4pm. Building Hours - The Student Union remains open for the Fall 2020 semester. Building hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. All study spaces are designed to meet social distancing regulations and cleaning supplies are available in each room to wipe-in and wipe-out. Students and faculty/staff will need to use a Wolfcard to enter the building from the South Parking Lot (nearest Enrollment Services Center / old Bookstore).
