Statewide Earthquake Exercise

The Great Alaska Shakeout earthquake exercise will take place next Thursday- 10/15 at 10:15. Organizations and schools across Alaska will participate as part of a nationwide effort to get everyone to “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” as practice for a damaging earthquake. The UAA Office of Emergency Management (OEM) asks that you take the exercise seriously, since actually dropping to the floor and taking cover under a sturdy piece of furniture make help you remember to do so when a real seismic event happens. For those working on campus during the exercise, you may see an alert pop up on your University computer announcing the exercise. The alert can be acknowledged with a single keystroke. Contact OEM with any questions at 786.1149 or emergencymanager@alaska.edu
