Campus Services supports the naturalization of 124 new US citizens!

On Friday, June 24, 2022, the UAA Wendy Williamson Auditorium sponsored and hosted the first large Naturalization Ceremony for Alaska since the onset of the pandemic.

Wildlife is active on and around campus; be aware of your surroundings

Moose and bears are active on the Anchorage campus right now. Be very aware of your surroundings when you're in the area. If you encounter wildlife, keep your distance and do not approach. Be mindful of younger animals and their mother’s relative location.

Amanda Yauney named UAA Budget Director

I am pleased to announce that Amanda Yauney will serve as UAA's next Budget Director, effective July 3.

UAA gymnastics program reinstated permanently

When UAA gymnastics coaches Marie-Sophie Boggasch and Kendra Daniels heard the news in 2020 that the program would be eliminated due to budget cuts across the University of Alaska system, they made a plan to overcome what seemed like an endgame.

New emergency manager at UAA, John Huffman

With Ron Swartz leaving UAA after 25 years, the Environmental Health & Safety Department engaged in a recruitment for the new Emergency Manager. Applications from excellent candidates across the country were reviewed, finalists were interviewed and vetted, and ultimately John Huffman has been hired as UAA’s Emergency Manager.

Coming soon! New interface for UA HR requests

As we bid a fond farewell to Spoke, effective July 1, 2022, employees will have a new, user-friendly website interface for submitting HR requests and searching the knowledge database. The UA HR team is working hard to ensure continuation of services during this transition.

Emergency manager leaving UAA

UAA Emergency Manager Ron Swartz has announced that he will be leaving the university in early July. Ron started with the University Police Department in 1997, helped create the emergency manager position in 2007, and has been working in that role under Environmental Health & Safety since 2015.

Passing of Jodi Pfeiffer and memorial service

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of our colleague Jodi Pfeiffer. Jodi was a term Assistant Professor of Physical Therapist Assistant, and she served as the program director for the AAS in Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). Jodi first started working at UAA as an Adjunct Professor in 2015.

Student Health and Counseling Center director stepping down

UAA Student Health and Counseling Center Director, Mary Woodring has announced that she will be leaving UAA in July. Mary has been leading the SHCC for the past three years and been working at UAA for over 14 years.

UAOnline main menu update coming soon!

The UAOnline main menu will receive an update this July! Historically, the main menu simply repeated the tabs users view across the top of their screen (e.g., Personal Information, Student Services & Account Information, etc.).
