British-Armenian Nigel Sharp is UAA’s first global entrepreneur in residence, serving as a mentor and consultant to students, staff and faculty while looking for opportunities to help develop the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Alaska as a whole.

UAA alumna Carla Baxley, B.S. Civil Engineering '01, said she wanted to be in an industry that helped people — and through her 17-year career as an airport engineer, she has helped connect Alaskans to their family, friends and services all over the state.

Along the Yukon River 270 miles west of Fairbanks lies Galena, a close-knit community where UAA construction management junior Kaleb Korta trained to become a runner for cross country and track and field.
