On Friday, Nov. 18, the UAA Japan Center opened the university's new Tea Room with a ribbon-cutting and traditional tea ceremony. The space for Japanese cultural events honors the memory of 2009 languages grad Monty Dickson.

‘The Northern Journeys’ will help UAA, ASD teachers infuse culture into Anchorage classrooms

Children and teachers both will benefit from 'The Northern Journeys' project—a UAA College of Education collaboration with the Anchorage Museum, Alaska Native Heritage Center and other partners—which will help teachers integrate the arts into their classrooms and teach in a culturally responsive way.

As the year comes to a close, Americans look back on the stories and surprises that shaped the nation in 2016. And journalism grad Todd Walker was likely there for many of them. As a national correspondent for Scripps, Todd provides on-the-scene breaking coverage for the broadcasting company’s 33 stations in 24 markets across 16 states. Though his scope is nationwide, his roots are proudly in Alaska.
