The Alaska Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects awarded a 'GreenBelt' Award to Pat Leary, now retired as a supervisor for UAA's award-winning landscaping and horticulture team. The event was held at the BP Energy Center on May 13, 2013. Tamas Deak, a principal with kpb architects, nominated Leary.
Of her contributions, he wrote, "Your horticultural and arboricultural work within UAA Facilities Maintenance and Operations provides significant benefits to local landscape architects and we would like to say thanks. The 'GreenBelt' award recognizes individuals or organizations that are non-landscape architectural professionals that have supported the mission statement of the Alaska Chapter ASLA which is:
'To lead, educate, and participate in the careful stewardship, wise planning, and artful design of our cultural and natural environments. The Alaska Chapter advances this mission by supporting the knowledge and practice of landscape architecture as a means to protect and enhance our natural and built environments in Alaska. The Chapter promotes the landscape architectural profession through advocacy, education, communication, and fellowship.'
"We appreciate your work!"
