If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, you may have heard of Gearspoke.com by now. If not, get this: It’s time to get online and share that gear in your garage. This online rental service, conceived and run by UAA students and alumni, provides customers with outdoor gear and equipment rentals from other outdoor enthusiasts.

UAA Campus Bookstore and UC Bookstore closed Aug. 12-16

The UAA Campus Bookstore and UC Bookstore will be closed Aug. 12-16 in preparation for fall rush. Both will re-open for the fall semester on Monday, Aug. 19.

Textbook buyback at the UAA Campus Bookstore, Aug. 2, 5 and 6

The UAA Campus Bookstore is offering textbook buyback Aug. 2, 5 and 6, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. If a book is going to be used again on campus, the UAA Campus Bookstore will offer top dollar in cash to buy it back, passing savings on to the next student who buys the book. This system puts money back in your pocket and increases the number of used books the bookstore is able to carry next semester.

2013 Week of the Arctic, Aug. 12-18

The University and Alaska Fairbanks and the Institute of the North will host presentations, roundtable discussions and workshops Aug. 12-18 in Anchorage, as part of the 2013 Week of the Arctic. The week celebrates America's status as an Arctic nation and explores ways to expand Alaska's role in the Arctic.
