Kenai Peninsula College staff and adjunct faculty member Dave Atcheson reads from his new book, Oct. 4

Saturday, Oct. 4, 4 p.m. Barnes and Noble Booksellers (200 E. Northern Lights Blvd.)

Kenai Peninsula College faculty Dave Atcheson will discuss his memoir Dead Reckoning: Navigating a Life on the Last Frontier, Courting Tragedy on its High Seas. About Dead Reckoning: "It's a story in which college students and 'fish hippies' work in canneries alongside survivalists, rednecks, religious freaks, and deckhands with damning secrets in dangerous waters, driven by the need to feed an insatiable appetite for adventure."  The reading starts at 4 p.m., and Atcheson will be available to sign copies until 7 p.m.

Atcheson teaches at Kenai Peninsula College. He is also the author of Hidden Alaska: Bristol Bay and Beyond and the guidebook Fishing Alaska's Kenai Peninsula.

He will also talk at a special event Oct. 22, 5-7 p.m., at the UAA Campus Bookstore.
