CANCELLED: German Bundestag Member Dagmar Freitag presents 'Germany and the U.S.–Strong Partners for New Challenges,' April 24

UAA will host two dignitaries from the German government. Consul General Peter Rothen (of the German Consulate of San Francisco) and German Bundestag (Parliament) Member and Committee Chair Dagmar Freitag will visit with UAA and Anchorage School District German Program students. As part of this visit, Bundestag Member Freitag will give a talk on Germany and current events titled "'Germany and the U.S.–Strong Partners for New Challenges."

Spring 2014: UAA's national criminal justice honor society chapter welcomes 17 new members

Seventeen Justice majors were inducted as members of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society, Omega Xi Chapter, on Thursday, March 27, at the UAA/APU Consortium Library. Family and friends attended the ceremony and reception.

Graduating students in the humanities (Alaska Native studies, English, history, journalism & communication, languages and philosophy) are invited to celebrate their accomplishments at a reception. Cake will be served from 2-4 p.m. Honored graduates will receive certificates in a brief ceremony starting at 2:30 p.m. Congratulations, humanities graduates!

UAA wins bid to host 2015 US Universities Debating Championship

The Seawolf Debate Program successfully bid for the opportunity to host the 2015 United States Universities Debating Championship, set to occur on April 11, 12 and 13 in Anchorage. The national championship, commonly referred to as USUDC, features between 100 and 200 of the best intercollegiate debate teams across America facing off in a series of preliminary and elimination rounds to determine the winners.
