UAA's Office of Equity and Compliance has partnered with STAR to open a new on-campus Center for Advocacy, Relationships and Sexual Violence in Rasmuson Hall. All are invited to attend an open house for the new center on Friday, April 21 at 11 a.m.

"Through the new Center for Advocacy, STAR will work with our Office of Equity and Compliance and Student Health & Counseling Center to provide crisis intervention, education and advocacy services to victims of sexual assault and sexual abuse," said Bridget Dooley, Title IX coordinator and director of Equity and Compliance. "STAR is the sole sexual assault response agency serving the Municipality of Anchorage and a founding member of the Anchorage Sexual Assault Response Team."

Georgia Dekeyser, director of the Student Health and Counseling Center, states, "The health center is excited to have the Center for Advocacy, Relationships and Sexual Violence onsite. This creates an opportunity for immediate and confidential referrals and for supporting the safety and well-being of students, staff, faculty and the community. We are grateful to the administrative leaders for their support of this initiative."

April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, a time to engage and learn more about preventing sexual violence and sexual assault.

An open house for the new center is scheduled for Friday, April 21 at 11 a.m.
