Aspiring nurses get networking, skills head-start at RRANN camp

Students pick up nursing skills through UAA's RANN program.

RRANN offers support for Alaska Native students enrolled in UAA's nursing program. Now the program is taking the long view with a camp that teaches teens basic nursing skills and connects them with other aspiring nurses — giving them a better chance of growing resilience and succeeding in college.

Juneteenth is the celebration of the full enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation. UAA's 2017 Juneteenth Celebration features three separate events: BBQ on June 14, free film on June 14 and a keynote lecture by Dr. Marc Lamont Hill on June 15.

The public open house (June 14, 2017, 6:30 p.m. at 4700 Elmore Road) is an opportunity for the public to hear about the proposed development plans for the Tudor Municipal Campus that include a grocery store, hotel, commercial, office and residential buildings.

First-aid volunteers needed for 2017 Mayor’s Marathon

The Mayor’s Marathon medical staff is looking for anyone interested in volunteering to work in a first-aid capacity as a "medical biker" on the marathon or half-marathon race courses. Medical experience is preferred, but not required. Perks include a free T-shirt.
