It's fitting for Madeleine Arbuckle to compete in the all-around. This senior environmental studies major and team MVP (elected by her gymnastics teammates) is an all-around all-star, with a 3.91 GPA and eyes on law school in the future.

The university community is invited to a farewell gathering for Director of Athletics Keith Hackett on Thursday, June 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Alaska Airlines Center’s Packer Family Pavilion. Director Hackett has accepted a similar position at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa and will be leaving UAA on July 7.

Student Health and Counseling Center will be closed July 3–7, 2017. The office will resume normal business hours Monday, July 10 at 8 a.m. Should there be any emergency, please contact the University Police Department at (907) 786-1120 or the local Anchorage Police Department at 911.

Bookstores will be closed June 28–July 4, 2017

The UAA Bookstore (both locations) will be closed for annual end-of-the-fiscal-year inventory June 28–30 and closed for Independence Day July 1–4. Although the bookstores will be closed for regular sales during that time, students who need to pick up books for second 5-week session classes will be able to do so at the main store. Please call us at (907) 786-4759 in advance to make arrangements.

Crow Pass Crossing suspended for 2017

The University of Alaska Anchorage announced Friday that it will suspend this year’s Crow Pass Crossing race. The decision followed extensive discussions among university leadership about safety and the university’s responsibility to bring additional communication and medical support resources to the race. The iconic, annual 24-mile mountain run from Girdwood to Eagle River through Crow Pass had been scheduled for July 22.
