Recent spring 2020 graduate Alexis Harvey is about to leave the North American continent for the first time in her life to travel to Spain as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar, where she will live and work, immersing herself in a whole new language and culture.

Beginning Fall 2020, the UAA Department of Music is offering five scholarships to first-year students who intend to declare music as a major. Each 'Excellence in Music' scholarship is worth $2,000. (To provide perspective on the impact of the award, each scholarship will cover about 30% of a typical full-time, first-year student's tuition.)

As noted in my email last week, I’m writing to announce that Ms. Jacelyn Keys will join UAA as the director of Kodiak College. Jacelyn has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and has focused on creating a dynamic, vibrant, inclusive, students-first learning environment. She currently serves as the Hermiston Center director at Blue Mountain Community College in Oregon.

In addition to its usual counseling services, the UAA Psychological Services Center is offering free telehealth COVID-19 Coping Sessions for people struggling with sadness, loneliness, anxiety, trouble sleeping, lack of motivation or other behavioral health issues while dealing with these trying times. The COVID-19 Coping Session is a free single, one-hour session with a mental health clinician that will be conducted via Zoom or phone.
