UAA Mac Devices New Management Application - Kandji

by Green & Gold News  |

UAA Information Technology Services (ITS) announced that UAA will be migrating to a new Apple Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution called Kandji for university-owned Apple devices. This change is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance device security, streamline management and improve the overall user experience for Apple device users across the university.

The timeline for this change is brief however. To avoid major impact and disruption with the approach of the end of semester wrap up activities, this migration will occur over the next week. Waiting until after semester wrap-up will risk facing technical problems that could affect devices and the ability to access important services.

What to expect

The migration will be conducted in a phased approach to ensure a smooth transition:

  • Voluntary migration: Starting Monday, March 31, 2025, employees will have the opportunity to migrate their university-owned Apple devices to Kandji at their convenience. This voluntary migration can be initiated through the Software Center on your device, providing employees with the flexibility to complete the process when it works best for you.
  • Automatic migration: On April 4, 2025, all remaining university-owned Apple devices that have not yet been migrated will automatically be moved to Kandji. Employees should ensure their devices are prepared and that their data is backed up for this update to avoid downtime.

Questions, concerns and requests for assistance with the migration process may be directed to the IT Services Help Desk at 907-786-4646 or uaa.techsupport@alaska.edu
