Knockout November offers free activities for all fitness levels

Knockout November is a series of activities designed by Kinesiology students from HPER to keep the community active and staying healthy during the end of the semester! Physical activity has been proven to have many health benefits and we know the winter can be a hard time to find that motivation to stay physically active, but we have you covered! All you have to do is "Zoom" in and try your best!

BOR takes proactive steps to address racial justice at UA, approves FY22 budget

The University of Alaska Board of Regents set a high priority on UA’s commitment to racial diversity, equity and inclusion during its Nov. 6 meeting. The board unanimously adopted a motion that directs the university president to take the steps necessary to understand the university climate and academic programming, and identify the barriers, challenges and opportunities to improve participation and outcomes for Alaska Native and Indigenous students, faculty, and staff.

Deadline to apply for fall graduation/commencement is Friday, Nov. 13

A graduation application must be submitted in UAOnline by Nov. 13, 2020 to participate in UAA’s virtual commencement ceremony on Dec. 13, 2020. We've teamed with MarchingOrder to give UAA’s 2020 graduates the opportunity to create a personal slide including a photo and quote, and to pre-record the pronunciation of their name to be read aloud during the ceremony. Graduates who apply for graduation by Nov. 13 will receive details by email within three business days.

November is National Career Development Month

November is National Career Development Month and Career Services is celebrating with a variety of virtual events! Students and alumni will have the opportunity to connect with employers during the Career Connections Series, or during the UAA 2020 Virtual Fall Career Fair. Howl Days sessions for incoming students start Nov. 17

New Student Orientation is now open for students starting in the spring semester (2021)! We will be hosting (7) Howl Days sessions starting Nov. 17, 2020 through Jan. 7, 2021. Similar to summer, we will host all sessions online via Zoom with an option to participate in a self-guided orientation to allow for the most flexibility as well. Students can register on the New Student Orientation website.

Nov. 6: Update on the pathogenesis and spread of COVID-19 in Alaska: from genomics to vaccines

COVID-19 is primarily a respiratory disease with complex immunological and physiological manifestations, with high impact in aged and vulnerable populations with underlying conditions. COVID-19 is a global pandemic with almost 8 million confirmed cases and 216,025 deaths in the US (CDC), and 10,323 cases, 348 hospitalizations, and 65 deaths in Alaska. Join us Friday, Nov 6, 3:30 p.m. on Zoom to hear from Eric Bortz, Ph.D., associate professor of biological sciences, whose research group at UAA studies emerging viruses.

CBPP hiring temporary administrative staff

The College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) at UAA is seeking an energetic, positive, and detail-oriented individual as a temporary, part-time, Faculty Support Specialist. This position provides administrative support to the faculty of the CBPP. Assist with and implement day to day academic policy and general office management which includes document tracking and maintenance of electronic files.

Job opening: Grant Analyst

UAA seeks applicants for Grant Analyst. This position will do various tasks in support of grant and contracts that are submitting, including but not limited to oversee approximately 100 accounts and/or proposals with funding from a few hundred dollars to multi-million dollar receivables to provide accounting expertise on account balances, aging of payment application, trends in agency funding and payment procedures. *To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized for unrestricted employment in the United States. No work visas will be sponsored for this position.
