Alaska’s Native languages were once forbidden in the state’s schools. Today, immersion programs across the state are working to restore both languages and cultural practices to the classroom. Hattie Harvey and her students in UAA’s Early Childhood Education program are helping one Anchorage immersion program establish both a curriculum and a community.
