UAA Testing Center

The UAA Testing Center provides a professional testing environment that supports student retention and success by offering examinations for students and other communities that assist with academic and professional advancement.  The testing center maintains membership with and adheres to guidelines set forth by the National College Testing Association (NCTA).

 

 

UAA Students

  • How to Schedule

    The University of Alaska Testing Center proctors exams to students enrolled in University of Alaska courses statewide.  There is no cost to the student for this service.  We serve the following campuses: UAA, UAF, UAS, KPC, KOC, MSC and PWSC. 

    Students who wish to take an exam at the testing center, must schedule an appointment online via our website at least 24 hours in advance to reserve a seat.  Due to limited seating, we do not accept same day or walk-in registrations. 

    Please review these instructions in detail before scheduling.

    1. Select Schedule an appointment 
    2. Choose the location
    3. Select Proctored exam
    4. Select UA Proctored exam
    5. Select the department if it is listed

    7. Choose the exam (proctoring times are based on how must time was alloted by your instructor.  Not by how much time you believe you need to complete the test).
    8. Choose the date and time
    9. Enter all the demographic information
    10. Review the Exam guidelines and acknowledge that you understand
    11. Add exam to cart
    12. Submit
    13. You will receive a confirmation email after completion.
    14. To reschedule an appointment (at least 24 hours in advance) log back into your account where you registered  to change the registration date and time. 
    15. We do not accept phone calls to cancel or reschedule an exam. All requests must be completed in writing to us via email to uaa_testingcenter@alaska.edu

  • Accommodation

    The UAA Testing Center provides testing accommodations  to candidates for the following:

    Extended time
    Reduced distraction environment
    What is the Process?
    Candidates  or vendors must notify the testing center at least 48 hours in advance that they wish to test with accommodations.
    Notification must be done in writing to uaa_testingcenter@alaska.edu  

  • Code of Conduct
    UAA Code of Conduct requires students to conduct themselves honestly and responsibly and to respect the rights of others.  Students may not engage in behavior that disrupts the learning environment, violates the rights of others or otherwise violates the Student Code of Conduct university rules, regulations  or procedures. 

    Any candidate seen giving or receiving assistance on an examination, found with any unauthorized materials, or who violates any security regulations will be asked to leave the testing center immediately. All such instances will be reported to the testing company, other schools/colleges, institution, or the UAA Dean of Students office.    
  • Honor Lock Laptops
    The UAA Library, located on the main campus, has laptops that are loaded with the Honor Lock software for checkout by students at the Circulation Desk. Candidates can check these out on a first come first serve basis 7 days a week.  Visit the Library Circlulation desk on the ground floor for more information.
  • ID Requirements

    All students must have a current unexpired identification to test (no exceptions). IDs must be one of the following: Military ID, Passport, Driver's License, State ID,  College IDs( UA Wolf Card or School District ID).

    Other exams may require candidates to have one Government Issued Photo identification with a signature.  If your exam sponsor follows Global ID Policy then you must bring one primary ID and one secondary ID to take your exam.

    Primary ID requirements:

    The ID must have your first and last name; a recent, recognizable photo; and your signature.  
    The first and last name on the ID must match the first and last name you used to register for the exam.

    The ID must be original (not a photocopy or digital ID), valid (unexpired), and government issued. Note: Expired IDs are acceptable if accompanied by renewal paperwork.

    The ID must be issued from the country in which you are testing (except for EU cards, which are acceptable in any country within the EU Zone).

    Note: If you do not have a primary ID from the country in which you are testing, you must bring an international travel passport. The passport must be issued from your country of citizenship, and the information on the passport must be in Roman characters.

    Secondary ID requirements:

    The ID must have one of these combinations:

    Your name (first and last) and a signature

    Your name (first and last) and a recent, recognizable photo

    The first and last name on the ID must match the first and last name you used to register for  the exam.

  • Faculty

    Faculty who wish to use the testing center has two options:

    Option 1: Send us the exam via our email address: uaa_testingcenter@alaska.edu

    Option 2: Professors can enroll to use the submission tools themselves.

    The Testing Center will provide the enrollment link to the professor.

    It should look something like this: www.registerblast.com/shortname/professor/enroll

    The link format must include your short name which can be found in the URL in the address bar at the top of your screen. 

    Add necessary information. There may be added questions besides those listed below. 

    1. Add First Name
    2. Add Last Name
    3. Add email address - this email is the one that will be used for logging into the professor submission link.
    4. Set up a password. Passwords must contain at least eight characters, including one number, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one special character.
    5. Confirm Password. (enter the same password)
    6. Determine notification of students (several choices available)
    7. Click enroll.
    8. Once the Enroll Button is clicked, the Testing Center will receive an email notification that a professor has enrolled.  (if email address has been added at the Manage Campus level).
    9. Once you have enrolled, the testing center will need to configure your account and then give you access to send in submissions. 
    10. You can edit your profile in your account when you are signed in by simply clicking the green circle in the upper right corner and clicking on Profile.

    13. Professors should allow 24 hours for account activation before submitting exams.

  • Policies
    1. Minors should always be picked up promptly at the end of exams to ensure their safety and well-being.  At no time should a minor be left unattended in the Testing Center. This includes students who test for ANSEP.

    2. Children are not allowed to accompany examinees into the testing room.  University staff will not take responsibility for, or provide childcare to examinee's children.  Examinees who visit the testing center with children must attend to them at all times.  

    3. Cell phones, music players and other electronic devices are prohibited during testing.  They must be powered off and stored inside the assigned locker and may not be accessed during breaks.

    4. Candidates may not use any removable media such as flash drives or  portable hard drives in the testing rooms.

    5. All watches are prohibited inside the testing rooms.

    6. Hooded sweatshirts or any clothing with a hood is prohibited inside the testing rooms.

    7. Backpacks and other items too large to fit in the locker may be left outside the locker or must be stored in the examinees vehicle.  The testing center is not liable for any items that do not fit inside the locker.

    8. Candy, chewing gum, food, drinks, and water are prohibited inside the testing rooms and must be stored inside the examinee's locker or discarded before testing.

    9. Scratch paper, erasable note boards, markers, pencils and calculators will be provided to the candidates for exams that require use of such materials.  All materials must be returned to the proctor at the conclusion of the exam.

    10. During the exam, you are not allowed to get help with test questions by speaking to anyone.

    11. Examinees are not permitted to leave the building during breaks.  Some exams prohibit examinees from using the restroom during testing.  Please review your exam policies and procedures before coming into the testing center.

    12. Visitors such as reporters, photographers, friends, parents, tutors, other family members, government officials and solicitors are not permitted inside the testing room.

    13. Under no circumstance will reporters, photographers or filmakers be admitted to the testing room or have access to the testing area.  Examinees or staff members may be interviewed (with their consent) but it cannot take place inside the testing center.
  • Parking

    The JBER Testing Center is located on the ground floor of the Education Center in room 105.
    Parking is available directly outside the Education Center for free.  Candidates may park in any available space.

 

Popular Exams

  • CompTia
    CompTia is for professionals looking to start a career in Information Technology (IT).  Candidates would need to have 9-12 months of hands on experience in the lab, IT field or equivalent training.  CompTia prepares candidates for employment in IT Support Roles.

  • GED
    The JBER Testing Center is an approved testing site for the GED Exam.  The GED has four main areas of testing:
    1. Mathematical Reasoning
    2. Reasoning Through Language Arts
    3. Science
    4. Social Studies
    Candidates may schedule one test at a time or all four at once.  The total testing time for all 4 tests in one sitting is 240 minutes.

  • GMAT
    The JBER Testing Center is an approved testing site for the  Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).  The test is designed specifically for students who want to attend graduate school for business.   The GMAT is offered through Pearson Vue and is only offered at this location.

  • TSA
    The UAA JBER Testing Center is an approved  site for the TSA Test.  The test is an aptitude assessment to measure a candidate's aptitude in areas vital to national security roles.  Candidates who wish to take the exam must make an appointment through the TSA Enrollment website or by calling (855)-347-8371

  • UAG

    The UAA JBER Testing Center is an approved site for FAA testing.   Candidates who wish to become part 107 certified must take the Unmanned Aircraft-General Exam (UAG).  The test is comprised of 60 multiple choice questions and candidates have 150 minutes to complete the test

  • FAA

    The JBER Testing Center is an approved FAA testing site. 

    The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) offers certificates to individuals interested in pursuing a career in aviation. They offer several different types of certifications to support the manufacture, operation, and maintenance of aircrafts.   • Pearson Vue

    Pearson VUE hosts accreditations for virtually every trade and profession. Many of the more common and popular exams are Alaska Real Estate, CompTIA, EMT,  Microsoft, etc. You can visit Pearson VUE’s website by clicking the button below to get access to candidate resources and get started on scheduling your exam.

    The JBER Testing Center is an approved site for Pearson Vue exams.  The Center is located at the Education Center on Elmendorf, Room 105.  To schedule an exam at this location, visit the Pearson Vue site below and select test on a military base.
