University Singers
The University Singers is the choral ensemble of the UAA under the direction of Dr. Grant Cochran. While the group’s primary function is to provide a performing ensemble for music majors, membership is drawn from all academic areas of the University as well as from the community. Devoted to a wide range of musical styles and periods, the ensemble performs from three to four major concerts a year. Since Fall 2022, the University Singers have formalized a collaboration with the Anchorage Concert Chorus where both ensembles rehearse and perform together throughout the academic year.
During the semester, the University Singers rehearse on Mondays from 6:30-9:30pm at Central Lutheran Church (15th and Cordova) and on Thursdays from 11:30am to 12:45pm in the Fine Arts Building (room 124).
Recent repertoire includes Orff Carmina Burana, Schutz Seven Last Words of Christ, Vaughan Williams The First Nowell, Bach Aus der tiefe ruh, Pärt Stabat Mater, Mozart Te Deum, as well as a number of Pops programs.
