Detailed Sexual Violence Results

Estimates of Alaskan women's experiences with sexual violence in 2020 are presented below. Sexual violence in this table is broken into two main types: contact sexual violence and non-contact sexual violence.

Contact sexual violence (composite)

Contact sexual violence is separated into three sub-composites:

  • Rape
    • Forced penetration (attempted or completed)
    • Alcohol- or drug-facilitated penetration.
  • Coerced sex (using lies, threats, persistent demands, and/or influence or authority)
  • Other unwanted sexual contact (being kissed in a sexual way or having one's sexual body parts fondled or groped)

Non-contact sexual violence (composite)

Non-contact sexual violence (composite) includes three specific non-consensual sexual behaviors that don't involve contact (exposure to sexual body parts, exposure of own sexual body parts, and exposure to or participation in sexual photos or movies).

Finally, if any of these types of situations were disclosed, they were classified as experiencing any sexual violence.
