Biography
Jessy Frye was born and raised in Florida. After graduating from the University of Florida School of Nursing BSN program in 2014, she worked as a registered nurse and charge nurse in medical-surgical and oncology inpatient units within the VA hospital network in Florida. Then, she worked in corrections and eventually become a nursing supervisor at an inpatient psychiatric hospital in Ocala, Florida. After graduating with her DNP and becoming certified as a PMHNP, she worked with high-risk offenders (both adult and adolescent) providing acute crisis stabilization, assessment/diagnosis, medication management, and psychotherapy. Then, she transitioned to working in an outpatient private practice for two years before relocating to Alaska to teach in the PMHNP program. Jessy has a passion for both the art and science of psychiatric nursing and is eager to share her knowledge with her students. In her spare time, Jessy enjoys spending time with her children and two dogs. Jessy’s hobbies also include acrylic painting and fishing.
