Biography

From a young age, caring for others brought happiness and a sense of purpose to my life. Roy's Adaptation Model has always provided guidance for my nursing career. When someone experiences trauma or suffers a severe life stressor, coping mechanisms can be depleted. My great passion is to assist in providing the necessary tools supporting the healing needed to work through a traumatic/stressful experience. While no one person adapts or reacts the same, every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Employing these values, I treasure getting to know my patients and learning through their unique experiences.

Teaching Responsibilities

Currently, I assist in both didactic and clinical courses.

Research Interests

  • Renal Cell Carcinoma
  • Related: Rainwater collection systems and the contamination from dissolved organic carbons.

Career History/Work Experience

My career started in the Medical/Surgical unit. I then moved to Labor & Delivery, receiving certifications in lactation, Baby Academy education classes, and newborn nursery care. While all of these experiences were rewarding, I made the move to the Emergency Room. Here, I learned and thrived, ultimately becoming a part of the Critical Care Transport team and lead instructor for paramedics and assisted in new nurse mentoring. After moving to Ketchikan, I assumed a nursing administrative role before returning to my love of teaching.

Duties & Responsibilities

My duties and responsibilities are to assist the School of Nursing in delivering courses online, work on course layout and content, and provide grant management for monies awarded to the School of Nursing.
