IDEA Course Evaluations (Info for Students)
Every semester, the University of Alaska Anchorage contracts The IDEA Center to administer confidential surveys on its courses. The following information is geared towards students. Interested in info for Faculty?
Which classes get surveyed?
With the new CampusLabs platform, all classes with enrollment of 3 or more students will be surveyed.
Confidential?
Yes! Your professor can't see who has answered the survey. They also won't be able to see the answers until long after grades are due. The survey link in e-mail and goes to IDEA's website where you fill out the survey, not to another piece of BlackBoard that your professor can control.
Who cares anyway?
Well, the faculty care and hopefully you do as well! Faculty can use the surveys to improve parts of their courses that may have not been effective. Faculty also have to include their IDEA survey results in their evaluation files according to University Regulation (the FEPP's). Your thoughtful responses regarding the instructional aspects of the course provide faculty with insights about effectiveness and gives insight into future improvements for the course and programs.
Okay, I'm ready. Where do I go?
Just log in CampusLabs with your institution credentials (UAA username and password). You will also receive a notification and email reminders to complete your surveys. Normally surveys open the last couple of weeks of the semester (default dates), but faculty can change those dates. Ask your instructor or e-mail uaa.idea@alaska.edu to find out about a specific survey.
Help! I'm having trouble accessing a survey!
No worries. Just send an e-mail to uaa.idea@alaska.edu or call Faculty Services at 907-786-1462. E-mail is the preferred method at this time.
